Beyonce Giselle Knowles-Carter, who generally works under the professional moniker of Beyonce, is shorter than many other female musicians, standing at only 5 feet, 6 inches in height from head to toe. She was born on the 4th day of the month of September in the year 1981 in Texas. Both of her parents were active participants in the entertainment industry. Her father was one of the managers for a record label, while her mother was employed working on the design of costumes and providing hair styling services for performers. She is the oldest child in her family and has one sister that is younger than her, who apparently also works in the entertainment industry as a musician and an actress. Beyonce grew up just outside of Fredericksburg in the state of Texas. During her childhood, she participated in numerous kinds of lessons for various genres of dance. It was during this time that she also discovered a personal passion for music. She used this passion to participate in a talent show at her school, which she went on to win. By the time that she was only seven years of age, Beyonce had already received acknowledgement from the local press as someone to watch as a rising star. By the time that she was eight years old, she went in to audition for a girls’ band. She was able to make it into the band and became one people whose vocals were prominent on the tracks. Although they did not win the competition that the girls set out to win, they took some time to develop their skills as artists, under the advice and guidance of Beyonce’s father, who left his job to help his daughter to achieve success in the music industry. Beyonce’s mother helped the band within her area of expertise in costume design and styling. They were briefly signed to a record company, but were again let out of the contract shortly thereafter. The group traveled the country for a period of four years, after which they were able to obtain a deal with Columbia Records. The record that was released after this agreement reached moderate success, leading to several more songs and albums. Although the band went through several changes in its members over the years, Beyonce went on to enjoy success both as a group artist and later, as an artist on her own.
